3D PRINTING TECHNOLOGIES

1. FFF – Fused Filament Fabrication

FFF is an additive process that builds parts layer-by-layer. A thermoplastic filament—PLA, ABS, nylon and evolving composite blends (wood, marble, metal powders, etc.) is unwound from a spool, melted in a heated nozzle and precisely deposited along the X-Y plane while the build platform (Z-axis) indexes down for each new layer. Its versatility and low cost make FFF ideal for functional prototypes and small-series production.

2. DLP – Digital Light Processing

In DLP a vat of liquid photopolymer is selectively cured by a high-resolution DLP projector working with non-actinic light. After each exposure the build platform lowers incrementally, fresh resin flows over the surface, and the sequence repeats until the model is complete. Excess resin drains away, leaving a finely detailed, fully solid part.

3) CJP – ColorJet Printing

CJP bonds thin layers of gypsum-based or plastic powder with a liquid binder that can carry full-spectrum colour over six million shades. Because unsintered powder supports upper layers, no separate support structures are needed, allowing complex “undercut” geometries. The result is fast, colour-accurate concept models and presentation pieces.

4) MJP – MultiJet Printing

MJP jets photopolymer droplets, plus a wax-like support material, layer-by-layer. UV lamps instantly cure each resin layer, producing parts with unmatched surface finish and feature resolution. Engineering-grade plastics, elastomers and biocompatible castable resins make MJP a go-to for functional prototypes, medical models and short-run production parts.

5. SLA – Stereolithography

SLA uses a scanning UV laser to solidify liquid resin exactly where the CAD file dictates. It is prized for high dimensional accuracy, smooth surfaces and fine details perfect for appearance models, mould masters or low-volume production when conventional tooling would be too slow or costly.

6. SLS – Selective Laser Sintering

A CO₂ laser sinters 0.1 mm layers of thermoplastic powder (typically PA 12 or filled nylons). The process needs no support structures because unfused powder surrounds and supports the part, enabling robust functional components, snap-fits and assemblies straight off the machine, all while compressing lead-times and tooling costs.

7) DMP – Direct Metal Printing

DMP spreads a thin bed of metal powder (stainless steel, aluminium, titanium, Inconel, etc.) and fuses selected areas with a high-power laser. The cycle repeats: spreading, fusing, lowering, until the metal part is fully built. Unmelted powder is reclaimed for future jobs. DMP delivers near-net-shape metal components with complex internal channels, lattice structures and superior mechanical strength.
